Nov 2 2011 – MAGALIESKRUIN, PRETORIA. Two black Pretoria-North police officers were arrested Monday and are being investigated for defeating the end of justice — for allowing the escape of Tsietsi Samuel Mziza, a ‘very dangerous’ black male rape suspect with three previous arrest warrants against him. Mziza, above, had earlier been arrested, shortly after the gruesome mutilation-rape of an Afrikaner student of Pretoria University at the Magalieskruin security-estate nearby. The student miraculously survived the horrific attack but will need plastic surgery. Five other residents’ homes were reportedly also being broken into shortly before the attack on the student.
Mziza was not even listed on SAPS public register of fugitive violent criminals – although he was being sought since 2001:
Crime-expert Dr. Johan Burger, senior researcher at the Institute for Security Studies, was very critical of the fact that this arrested man, being sought for extremely violent crimes since 2001, did not appear on the SAPS register of fugitive criminals. “If the man had already been sought for violent crimes since 2001, his photo should have been issued much sooner so that the police could try and find him,’ Burger told Beeld newspaper yesterday.
The arrested man was being sought for three previous rapes: yet when he was taken to Garankuwa hospital, claiming he felt ‘ill’, the suspect had not even been handcuffed. He escaped by simply climbing through a toilet-window. The police had been looking for this man for the past ten years. His arrest pictures at the police station showed that they had him detained in leg-irons and handcuffs. Why didn’t he wear either of these when he arrived at Garankuwa hospital? link
“Her rapist virtualy disected her… cutting her nose and lips, slicing into her legs and nearly severing several fingers before raping her”
SAPS intimidation of news media: the 2 arrested police officers followed Beeld photographer after he took their picture at court – and took down his car registration number:
picture above: Student constable Mphikeledi Alfred Mahlanga, 39, and Warrant Officer Amos Chris Masilela, 48, appeared in the Pretoria North Regional Court on Monday on charges of defeating the ends of justice and aiding in the escape of the student’s alleged rapist on Friday night. The two police members apparently took him to the Dr George Mukhari hospital in Ga-Rankuwa in northern Pretoria without handcuffs or shackles after he complained of feeling ill. He then escaped through a toilet window. According to the charge sheet, the police officials were arrested the same day and later released on a warning. The matter was postponed for them to obtain legal representation. Outside court, the two followed Beeld’s photographer after he took their picture. They took cellphone pictures of him and his car’s registration number.
The girl’s injuries were described by horrified medical personnel at the Pretoria hospital’s trauma unit as ‘if she had been virtually disected’. A team of surgeons and medical personnel worked hard to safe her life and to try and patch her up, said Dr Lets Pretorius. Student ambushed after Bible-studies with friends:
The Afrikaans girl was ambushed while she was letting friends out of her secured apartment building after Bible-studies. Afrikaner families traditionally often hold bible-studies and prayer-services at their homes: they refer to it as ‘Boekevat” . (taking the Book)
SAPS spokesman Lt-col. Lungelo Dlamini confirmed that the ‘man was very dangerous’: and that three other arrest warrants were also outstanding for similarly-gruesome and very violent rapes. He released the suspect’s picture to the news media two days later. With many tens of thousands of fugitive rape-suspects on the SAPS data-base, it’s highly unlikely that he will be caught any time soon.
Medical personnel at the trauma-unit who treated the girl were so outraged about the horrific injuries inflicted upon the girl that they wanted to take an hour off work to protest against these cruelties during his scheduled remand hearing on Monday in Pretoria North court. Dlamini ‘promised that an internal hearing would be held about the escape’.. The chances of catching him are slim: many tens of thousands of black South Africna men are listed on the SAPS wanted-registers for rape.
