According to the reaction manager of Dunmar Security, Johan Stafelberg, at around midnight, 15 August, their control room got a panic alarm. On his arrival, he noticed that robbers were still at the scene. Three men jumped from the boundary between units 17 and 19. They approached him and started shooting, then disappeared. Grove went to unit 19 and found the occupant of the house tied up. The robbers stole the TV set from that house. While Grove was still patrolling the area, at around 2am, he noticed a white Hilux bakkie, with no registration plates. Shortly after that, five men came out of the vehicle and started firing shots at him. He returned fire. He called his office for backup, and unfortunately, when they arrived, Grove was lying on the ground. He was shot in his underarm. An ambulance was called immediately, and he was taken to hospital. Grove is in a stable condition at Flora Clinic.
