Dan Roodt – candidate: Dairnfern Bryanston

Government spending needs to be redirected at the people who pay rates and taxes. I will be watching that the tenders do not go to ANC political cronies…

11 May 2011  Daniel Roodt, the Freedom Front candidate in Dairnfern, Bryanston for the countrywide local-government elections on May 15, studied politics at Wits University and the University of Paris in France and has been active in politics for the past 15 years. He holds six degrees, including a doctorate.

ROODT DAN He says: “I am standing because I believe voters are tired of ‘one size fits all’ politics and will appreciate our party’s brand of minority politics and activism, and our real commitment to Johannesburg residents.”

The Dainfern resident said he hoped to address crime, grime, corruption and lack of proper spending which he believed were the major issues in local politics.

“I want to tackle crime by getting the police and private security companies to coordinate better.” He has also been active in community and security initiatives, and training. He hopes to put pressure on the municipality to clean up our suburbs and sidewalks.

“Spending needs to be redirected at the people who pay rates and taxes and I will be watching tenders with a beady eye to curtail their allocation to the ANC’s political cronies.”
Roodt said he would put his banking and finance experience into improving what he called a failing local government system in South Africa.
“Liberalism and leftism are two sides of the same coin, taking from the hard-working, tax-paying middle class and rewarding those who work less and do not pay taxes. Conservative values such as honesty, hard work and accountability need to be defended in South Africa and I aim to do just that.”
